This tour takes us through the famous Rapaura vineyard area before heading southeast towards the Omaka Valley and Waihopai Valley. An opportunity will be included to taste some of our sponsor's magnificent wines at Hunter's Wines. Enjoy the array of styles and locations with these garden enthusiasts who are keen to share part of the flavour of Marlborough.

Hortensia House ~Huguette Michel-Fleurie


Garden of Regional SignifanceThis garden is overflowing with an abundance of Huguette's favourite flower, hydrangea blooms in splashes of vibrant colour. Numerous roses and hundreds of fruit and native trees abound. Admire the Marlborough sky over the crystal clear, light-dappled waters of the Spring Creek and an inviting shaded pathway along the banks. Hortensia is a Monet-inspired garden capturing an essence of serenity. Rated a garden of Regional Significance by NZGT.

Tenby ~Judy and Norm Fowke

Tenby features expansive lawns, vistas of grapevines and the Richmond ranges, pin oak and silver birch trees together with hedges protect this garden from the prevailing strong northwest wind. Curving garden edges meander throughout giving a relaxed stroll into different rooms with individual pots of roses azaleas, rhododendrons and natives.

Rocenvin Estate Vineyard ~Chris, Michelle and Colin Fletcher

A garden for everyone. A large dry riverbed links two ponds featuring water lilies and irises. Shady areas of rhododendrons and camellias are under planted with hostas. A large rose walkway bordered with buxus and rhodos lead to a large perennial garden with euonymus hedging. The potager is lined with lonicera hedges and the mirror image beds are planted in vegetables fruit and flowers.

Timara Lodge ~Bryan and Jan Johnson

This impeccably maintained garden was originally planted by Redwood Goulter back in 1910 and features many rare and unusual species. Within this framework, an essentially English style formal garden has been created with extensive woodland and perennial area. To the east of the lodge itself in an informal natural setting lies a lake that originally provided irrigation during the establishment phase of the trees.

Tussock ~Colin and Hilary Clere

Enjoy a walk through the Waihopai olive grove of Colin and Hilary Clere and taste their enticing range of Tuscan extra virgin olive oils. Extensive plantings of ornamental trees and native grasses are landscaped to relate to the surrounding environment and spectacular mountain views. All visitors appreciate the space and simplicity of this quiet country setting.
