Garden Marlborough

Are Landscapes Sexy? ~perhaps a little risque~

Richard GreenwoodRichard has a larger than life personality. This evening is an entertaining and humorous look at landscape gardening.Richard will be discussing the merits of current trends in landscape design in his adventurous and powerful manner. He will use satire and comedy to exemplify suggestive themes as a marketing tool for design through the media. He'll poke fun at the design industry and himself and compare the "city chic" to "country quality".

The presentation will take a walk through what's happening now in the media driven design world and will take a step back to visit the old masters, the quiet country gardens and romantic gardens of France and Italy with images of all those amazing places.

All in all it will be a visual trip from the beginnings of garden design of Egypt through the Renaissance gardens of France and Italy to little old NZ. Richard was a host on TVNZ's gardening programmes Mucking In and Ground Rules, but doesn't watch himself as he doesn't own a TV. He has worked extensively internationally from Australia's Darling Harbour to Saudi Arabia's Central Business District; he's also built a water park in Hong Kong.

He has been Director of Greenwood Associates for the past 12 years doing projects all over New Zealand. They have an office in Auckland and Queenstown. Most of the work is high end residential and commercial projects, currently building a resort in Cardrona next to the old Cardrona Speights Ale Bar.
