BARRY SLIGH
STONEWALLING
These workshops will be a practical demonstration of how
to build a stonewall. You will have the opportunity to get
up close and personal with this art ~so old clothes and
gloves are the recommended dress code! Barry will explain
how to plan your wall, covering the foundations, choice of
stone, and the tools of this trade.
Stonewalling is an art. Sometimes you're in the mood and
all goes well, and other times nothing seems to work! Barry
Sligh is from the well known and award winning Taunton Gardens
in Governors Bay. Here he has restored the original stone
house (built 1852) and has added solid double exposed stonewalls,
taking three and a half years to build. In the Taunton Garden
landscaping he has personally laid 15,000 bricks and has
built 200 meters of stonewalls.
Your stonewall will be created on location on the Taylor
River walkway, maps available at headquarters, at time of
registration.
